Elections for the Student Government Association are run by the SGA Elections Commission. The Commission is headed by the SGA Elections Chair and Vice Chair. In order to preserve the integrity of the Student Government Association and its elections, members of the Commission are not allowed to be members of SGA or to run for office.

All candidates must report all campaign expenses, even if they were donated or paid for through campaign donations. An expense form will be provided by the Elections Commission. All offers of campaign donations, whether accepted or not, must be reported to the Elections Commission through the Campaign Contribution Reporting Form within 24 hours of the offer.

Policy Reminder

UNC Board of Governors – SGA Elections Policy Reminder – The policy prohibits UNC System schools’ faculty, staff, and board members from influencing (endorsing, campaigning for, etc.) and contributing (direct or in-kind contributions) to any student campaign, with the exception of student employees. Student employees can campaign and support other students, with the exception of the Student Body President, who is a serving board member.
